I will be adding 2 more speakers soon and want to expand to 7 1.
Wall mounting rear ported speakers.
Any thoughts on this.
With the latest speaker mounts you can position your speakers perfectly without sacrificing style.
Before i start wall mounting these speakers i have few questions.
Is this the ideal placement.
In a perfect world set your listening position more than 3m 9 8 feet from the wall behind the speaker regardless of the distance of the speaker to the wall assuming normal setup.
And oh look that just happens to be the minimum distance to the wall recommended by genelec for their back ported speakers what a coincidence.
Depending on the tuning of the box the effects of.
Even if you are using the front speakers above 80hz or so it seems like a bad idea to mount rear ported spaekers on the wall.
My problem is that i can only position them so that the back of the speaker is only about one foot from the wall behind it.
Q1 is 5 6 inch space sufficient for rear porting speakers to work fine.
I will place the 2 new surround speakers at ear height on both sides of the sofa.
If i had to mount speakers on the wall i would look for front ported speakers.
Any back ported speaker with a port diameter of 2 for example will work just fine placed up to a wall as long as there is 2 of space behind the port.
Hi all i am considering purchasing a pair of sonus faber liuto towers.
I also read in some other threads where people has advised to stuff the rear port with cloth do you recommend that.
There are plenty of them out there to choose from.
Total blockage turns the speaker into a sealed box in a box that is on the small side.
Your other option is sealed acoustic suspension.
So now i will have 4 rear surround speakers at ear height and ceiling height.
Not only will this help with the soundstage it will also change the relationship of the rear port to your wall by changing the angle of reflection.
They are a rear ported speaker and come highly rated.
I have no other options.
The range of things that different things that happen to rear ported speakers when they are placed near a wall ranges from total blockage to no effect at all.
